 Solange Coelho Verezas

She holds a bachelor's degree in Portuguese Baccalaureate from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, a specialization in Language Teaching from London University (with distinction), a Master's (MA) in Language and Literature in Education, also from London University, 1982, and a doctorate in Applied Linguistics and Language Studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (1998). Her doctoral thesis focused on the question of the literal sense in the conceptual metaphor paradigm. She has a PhD in Linguistics, at the University of São Paulo (USP). Has experience in the areas of Theory and Linguistic Analysis and Applied Linguistics, acting and publishing, mainly, in the following fields: metaphor, argumentation and reading. She is a Full Professor at the Fluminense Federal University, working in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Language Studies at UFF, teaching courses and conducting master's dissertations and doctoral theses. Coordinated the Linguistics and Cognition WG of ANPOLL. Since 2015, she has been head of the Department of Modern Foreign Languages ​​at UFF.
