1st Call for Papers

As part of the activities of the GELP-COLIN Research Group, in partnership with the FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF MARANHÃO and the CEUMA UNIVERSITY, we gladly inform that the II CIVIP – II INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON VIOLENCE, POLITENESS, CONFLICT MEDIATION AND ACCESS TO JUSTICE will be held in São Luis-MA, from the 12th to the 14th November, 2018.

Based on multi and transdisciplinary perspectives of linguistics, literature, psychology, law, sociology, life sciences and related fields, the event aims primarily at addressing the problem of violence in its various forms and, considering this issue, at pointing to attitudes and actions which focus not only on raising awareness about this phenomenon, but also on discussing alternatives for coping with situations related to the insecurity caused by the increasing spread of violence episodes, so as to find solutions for a better handling of this problem.

The II CIVIP will include keynote talks, round tables, communications, workshops and poster sessions.

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Paper submission will be carried out exclusively by the site www.civip2018.ufma.br

2. Papers will be accepted in the English language or Portuguese language for communications, round-tables sessions and posters sessions;

3. Abstracts must be sent either in English or in Portuguese, and should be 200 to 250-words long, in Times New Roman font, size 12, single-spaced, with a centralized title, and anonymously-submitted. Access to information about authors will be in the metadata option.

4. Up to 4 keywords should be listed 2 spaces below the abstract;

5. If requested by the Scientific Committee, a corrected version of the work submitted must be sent, otherwise this paper will not be presented;

6. There will be neither coauthors inclusion nor paper title change after the submission deadline.

 

Selected papers will receive the acceptance letter up to 20 (twenty) days from the submission date, via e-mail;

 

Only up to 2 (two) papers will be admitted by proponent, irrespective of the chosen category

Professors, researchers and students who are interested in the conference theme will be able to submit work related to its thematic axes as listed above. Submissions should fit one of the following categories.

 

ORAL PRESENTATION: Individual or paired presentation related to the themes of the conference. Undergradutes will only be able to present if supervised by a master or a doctor;

Time allocation: 15 minutes for each presentation. (100 minutes per session)

  

SIMPOSIUM/ WORK GROUP: These modalities refer to research teams who propose to work consciously under a given theme. The simposium/ work group must be proposed and coordinated exclusively by a professor with the title of doctor;

Time allocation: 20 minutes per member.(100 minutes per session)

ROUND-TABLE: Discussion among specialists who put forward their views under a common theme. The round-table must be proposed and presided exclusively by a professor with the doctor title. The other members must be at least Masters. The round-table must be composed by a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 (four) members.

Time allocation: Até 60 minutos. (70 minutos per session)

 

WORKSHOPS: Individual or paired presentation, of a theoretical nature, about a researched theme, to be debated in a classroom format. The workshop should be ministered by a lecturer with the title of Master or a professor with the title of doctor. The list of workshops wll be published on the site;

Class duration: 3 sessions of 100 minutes.

 

POSTER SESSIONS: Individual or paired presentation, having research results presented on a poster in an illustrative way. The guidelines for the poster elaboration and presentation will be published on the site.

Time allocation: 90 minutes.
